        SHINE ON

Why we love it: 2022 feels like a year worth celebrating. We are returning to “normal” post-pandemic, with loads of events, dining out, and in-person school events. I can’t help but wonder if there is tech-billionaire enabled space-age excitement playing into this. Its giving Zenon Space Teenager energy.

For minis, look for: Think all-day boldness for kids with a metallic spandex dress or leggings Mix softer cozy pieces with pleated lame or a sequin skirt.

And for grown-ups: Add this into the lineup by adding a touch of shine to a classic outfit for date night with a metallic shoe for mom.

        '80s MAXIMALISM

Why we love it: 80’s fashion evokes a sense of joy and bold self- expression. We're excited about taking fashion risks again. Normcore is long over, individual style perspectives are in!

For minis, look for: Revisit abstract shapes in bold colors. This trend is all about adding drama through silhouette and print in wearable fabrics for kids. Think color-blocking in rich jewel tones, acid-wash denim, Spandex, and puffy sleeves.

And for grown-ups: We'll leave the color-blocking to the kids and stick with acid denim and puff-sleeves for an easy drop-off look that feels put together.

        HEIRLOOM DETAILS

Why we love it: Hand-worked details like broderie anglaise, eyelet, smocking, pointelle knit and lace never go out of style. These classic pieces can transition you from summer to fall by mixing in a chunky knit layer.

For minis, look for: For kids we love soft lace collar

And for grown-ups: Pair a cream eyelet skirt or dress with a navy or olive pullover knit and a tall leather boot for a timeless weekend look.

        UTILITY

Why we love it: After a few years of sweatpants, we’re leaning into crisp cottons and twills that are wearable (pockets!!!) and comfortable, but with an edge. The color palette is calm and easy to mix and match with your existing wardrobe. Think Scandi cool-girl, Pernille Teisbeck.

For minis, look for: Functional, minimalist pieces in grounding natural colors, like olive green, navy, black and white. Think cargo pants, flight suits and quilted jackets.

And for grown-ups: Head back to the office in military-inspired cuts for pants and coats with structural details like quilting and pleats for a 40s vibe that feels fresh.

        PUNK PREP

Why we love it: Thanks to Tiktok, teens everywhere are leaning into what “old money aesthetic” of Northeastern preppy girl classics–tennis skirts and bracelets, sweater vests and chic loafers.

For minis, look for: Sporty seperates with varsity details paired with acedemic-inspired cords, chinos and even tweed.

And for grown-ups: This coincides with a 90s explosion on runways everywhere (looking at you, Miu Miu) so the vibe is minimal with a wink. While the Tiktok crowd goes all in, ground the look by mixing in sleek slip dresses or chunky boots. I'm leaning into this for my horse girl Connecticut alter ego.

        WESTERN WEAR

Aren’t we all horse girls deep down inside? No, just me? Country music is having a moment in the sun right now. Shania Twain performed with Harry Styles at Coachella and country-pop crossovers (think Kacey Musgraves, Florida Georgia Line, Lil Nas X) are bending and blending genres, and influencing fashion.

For minis, look for: Denim, boots and hats galore! Bonus points for yoke details and XL belt buckles.

And for grown-ups: While Dolly, Shania, and Kasey may have you thinking sequins and shine (and we're into that too), this fall we're into nods to western wear in a low-heeled boot and light wash denim.

        HOME ON THE PRAIRIE

The evolution of cottagecore this fall is a more dust bowl or Little House on the Prairie than Victorian nightgown. It's got a distinctly American feel with ditsy florals, muted checks and plaids.

For minis, look for: Styles meant for play with big collars, quilted fabric and smocking.

And for grown-ups: Look for patchwork details, ditsy prints in tonal shades. Layer both jeans and dresses with shackets for early morning playground hangs.
