About Eye Heart Hand: Founded by Pete & Kate Spain, the Eye Heart Hand collection creates authentic, high-quality handmade New Zealand wool rugs for the home from the land. The essence of the collaboration, across 3 continents and cultures, relies on the full contribution of each artisan and full transparency to the supply chain and animal welfare. To reinforce this idea, each of their rugs is hand-signed by the designer in the U.S. (representing the eye), the shepherd in New Zealand (the heart of the land), and the GoodWeave®-certified rugmaker in India (the hand). The result is a luxurious heritage rug built to last, that's also traceable and sustainably-sourced.
- Material / Ingredients / Care
- High Peak strong wool is extraordinarily care free because of its natural strength and the lanolin that helps repel dirt and stains. Simple, regular maintenance is all that is needed to keep your eye heart hand rug looking good for many years. It is unlikely, but if any fibers should come loose, snip with scissors. Do not pull. The weight of eye heart hand rugs is substantial and if there is curling after unpacking, this should disappear in a week or so. Reverse rolling usually does the trick. eye heart hand’s tight closed-loop construction and long-staple wool make for much less shedding than you’ll find in other wool rugs. Don’t vacuum your rug with a beater bar or rotating bar on. Use the handheld attachment to vacuum your rug without the 'rotating ‘beater bar’ on. Brooms are a great, gentle way to clear your rug off. Canister vacuums without beater bars are the most effective. Spot Cleaning: • With a naturally high lanolin content in the wool we use, our rugs initially repel liquid giving you those extra moments you’ll need to clean spills. • If you spill on a rug, clean it ASAP. Once the stain is set in it becomes more difficult to clean. • Blot with a clean white cloth or towel. Never rub a spill as doing so will force the spill deeper into the wool fiber. • Use a solution of diluted white vinegar and water (1:10 parts), or a diluted wool cleaning liquid to remove any residual stain. • Always use clean water to remove any residual cleaner, and dry towels to absorb any remaining moisture. Professional Cleaning: To fully clean a wool rug, use a professional cleaning expert. Cleaning a handmade rug is different than cleaning wall to wall carpet. Inspect the rug with the cleaner before it is cleaned. Get a signed receipt and guarantee of work before the work is done.
